THE PANEL CONSISTS OF:
Hemogram: A general evaluation of blood cells, oxygen carrying capacity, and iron stores in the body. Gives measurements of cells that can help detect abnormal cells, anemia and infections.
Comprehensive Metabolic Panel: A chemical survey of the blood serum that gives an indication of the overall functional status of internal organs. Some of the things measured are: electrolytes that are important to muscle functions and enzymes and other products of many organs. If anything unusual is noted, we recommend a call to your physician for follow-up. He/She may then order more specific tests to isolate an individual organ or problem.
Lipid Panel: Used, in part, to estimate heart disease risk. Lipids in the blood tend to deposit in blood vessels and can create a blockage to blood flow. This test provides a measurement of the levels of different lipids, like the so-called good cholesterol (HDL) and bad cholesterol (LDL) and components known as triglycerides. All of these components can help the physician determine if therapy may be indicated to lower the levels (and risk) of the undesired lipids.
