Heart/Lung/Renal ProceduresBronchoscopyThis is a procedure during which the physician uses a viewing tube to evaluate the patient's lung and airways including the voice box and vocal cord, trachea, and many branches of bronchi.
TEE A diagnostic test to examine the function of the heart utilizing a probe. The physician then examines the function of the heart using equipment called ultrasound.
Bladder Scan (pre/post voiding)This is a procedure used to assess bladder volume, urinary retention, and post-void residual volume. CardioversionsCardioversion is a brief procedure where an electrical shock is delivered to the heart to convert an abnormal heart rhythm back to a normal rhythm. Most elective or non-emergency cardioversions are performed to treat atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter, benign heart rhythm disturbances originating in the upper chambers (atria) of the heart.
Stress TestsSerial electrocardiograms performed while the patient exercises on a treadmill until target heart rate is achieved, electrocardiograms continue through the resting recovery phase and the test is concluded when heart rate and blood pressure return to normal. This test is used to screen for coronary artery disease and physical fitness. This test may also be combined with Echocardiograms, Cardiolite scans. If the patient cannot walk on a treadmill drugs can be used to increase heart rate and/or cardiac vessel dilation.
