Grand Valley Oncology is pleased to announce the second annual Western Colorado Oncology Nursing Conference, which is been sponsored by the Western Slope Oncology Nursing Society. We had a huge turnout for our first Western Colorado Oncology Nursing Conference and have honored the request to continue this as an annual event. Please invite your colleagues and register early. Our goal for the conference this year is to bring a diverse group of oncology experts to the valley for a one day, dynamic learning experience that supports the professional development of nurses and oncology professionals who treat oncology patients.

This conference is designed to meet the needs of a variety of oncology nurses, as well as nurses who aren’t specialized in oncology but may see oncology patients on their unit or department. The conference lectures have been selected based on feedback on last year’s evaluations, so we hope you find the topics stimulating. We want to ensure that every participant walks away with something they can implement in their own practice. The final agenda will be published in early May, so check back.

This years event will be set up similar to last years with a vendor fair from 7:30-8 and 12-13:00. There will be different vendors on-site with additional resources and information to advance oncology practice and support professional development. We want to thank the vendors for their support, their involvement makes this a rich learning opportunity.

We also want to Thank Chris Thomas, President and CEO of Community Hospital, for donating space for the NEW Nursing Leadership workshop that will be hosted on Friday, October 20. Donna Wright wrote the book when it comes to nursing education, training and accountability. We are fortunate to have her speaking at this event and hope you are able to attend the workshop as well as the conference.
