In 2014, Community Hospital teamed up with U of U Health and Huntsman Cancer Institute at the University of Utah. These affiliations increase our patients’ ability to access specialty care including cancer, stroke and cardiovascular care right here at Community Hospital.

Do I have to travel to University of Utah to receive care?

In most cases, Community Hospital patients do not have to travel to University of Utah Health to receive care. Community Hospital and University of Utah Health will do everything possible to keep Community Hospital patients in Grand Junction. In rare cases, patients may need to travel to University of Utah Health to receive a higher level of care that is not currently available at Community Hospital.

What is University of Utah Health Network?

U of U Health Network is made up of a team of health care systems that are dedicated to improving health care access and delivery to rural communities throughout the Mountain West.

By joining U of U Health Network, health care systems in rural communities have better access to specialty care, expertise, and resources from a top-ranking medical center.

How does it benefit patients?

U of U Health Network uses standard methods of communication including phone, email, and TeleHealth services.

In certain health care organizations, we rely on TeleHealth, the use of videoconferencing technology, to deliver care.

How will this affect Community Hospital?

While Community Hospital will maintain our independence, this agreement provides a platform to improve collaboration with U of U Health and enhances our efforts to improve care.
