Pediatric Programs

Reach Out and Read: At every well-child checkup from two months to five-years-old, our patients receive an age-appropriate book to take home. We believe all families should have the tools and information they need to make shared reading a daily habit. During visits, we talk with parents about the importance of reading and demonstrate how to engage their child with books, showing how to hold them, interact with the text and images, and spark conversations about the story. We also offer gently used books for free to sick patients and siblings.

Cavity Free at Three: Our providers are trained in the Cavity Free at Three program to offer preventive oral health services for young children. By focusing on early dental care, we help reduce the risk of cavities, the most common preventable chronic childhood disease. Early detection of dental issues can prevent emergency room visits, missed school days, hospitalizations and other serious health complications.

Rx for Play: This program integrates learning through play into pediatric care. As part of Rx for Play, we provide Duplo blocks at every well-child checkup from 18 to 36 months, along with tips for parents on how to use them to encourage their child’s development. Through play, children learn boundaries, self-expression, confidence, resilience and communication skills while strengthening their bond with caregivers.

Vaccines for Children Program: We participate in the Vaccines for Children (VFC) program, which provides free vaccines to children whose families may not be able to afford them. This state-funded program ensures that children covered by Medicaid and self-pay patients can still receive these vaccines.
