Community Hospital’s Grand Valley Rehabilitation Services proudly provides physical, occupational and speech and language therapy.
Physical therapy is concerned with identifying and maximizing movement potential within the spheres of promotion, prevention, diagnosis, treatment/intervention, and rehabilitation. For people who want to improve their motion for greater quality of life, physical therapists are the preferred provider of the scope of treatment options proven and trusted to produce long-term results.
Physical therapy can be beneficial to any disorder that limits mobility, everything from acute injuries, such as a sprain or recent surgery to chronic ailments, such as osteoarthritis or neurological conditions.
Occupational therapy helps people across the lifespan participate in the things they want and need to do through the therapeutic use of everyday activities. Services may include comprehensive evaluations of the client’s home and other environments, recommendations for adaptive equipment and training in its use, and guidance and education for family members and caregivers.
Our expert team of occupational therapists provide comprehensive care, including common interventions such as helping children with disabilities to participate fully in school and social situations, helping people recovering from musculoskeletal and neurological injuries to regain skills, and providing support for older adults experiencing physical and cognitive changes.
Speech and language therapy is concerned with the management of disorders of speech, language, communication, oral motor and swallowing in children and adults. Speech and language therapists work with a variety of people including those who cannot or have difficulty producing speech sounds; those with problems understanding language; and those with cognitive communication impairments, such as attention, memory, and problem-solving disorders.
Pelvic floor therapy helps people manage pelvic area concerns through therapeutic conservative treatment. Such treatment methods include lifestyle and behavioral modifications, body awareness and positioning techniques, and home exercises tailored to the patient’s unique situation as guided by a trained pelvic floor therapist.
Pelvic floor therapy can be helpful for those who have difficulties with control or evacuation of their bowels or bladder and pain or dysfunction with sexual functioning. Pelvic therapy can also be beneficial for people who either have or have a history of cancer in their reproductive/genitourinary/GI areas, are pregnant or post-partum, or are transgender. If you feel that you or someone you care about could benefit from pelvic floor therapy, please request a referral from your provider.

Do I need a referral to your office? - A referral from a physician is required to initiate occupational therapy, speech, and language services. Colorado allows a physical therapist to evaluate and treat a patient without a referral; however, many insurances require a referral for reimbursement. A referral for physical therapy is not necessary if you are not planning on using insurance for payment.
How many visits will I need? - Each individual is different. After careful evaluation of your needs, your therapist will discuss it with you and determine the number of visits required to help you achieve your goals.
