As you may be aware, on February 22, 2024, Change Healthcare experienced a cyber-attack. This cyber-attack significantly impacted hospitals, pharmacies, financial institutions, and insurance companies across the country as 1/3 of all medical claims in the United States are processed through Change Healthcare (approximately 15 billion transactions per year). Over the last several months, Change Healthcare started notifying parties about protected health information that was impacted and/or compromised by the cyber-attack.

Community Hospital was recently informed by Change Healthcare that our data has not been compromised in this breach. Nonetheless, you may receive a letter from Change Healthcare indicating that you were personally affected. If so, we recommend you follow the identity protection instructions listed in the letter, which is free of charge. Medical claims are processed through several institutions when receiving care, including providers (like Community Hospital), financial institutions and insurance companies. Given the information provided to us from Change Healthcare, the actual notification letters from Change Healthcare are likely issued due to a breach of information maintained by another institution or insurance company.
